Graduation speech: Remember

I’ve never liked proverbs the always had a hole in it and liked people who lived by proverbs strictly less.  And less those who used it beyond its context. The strongest of metal are forged in the hottest fire, lotus flowers grow in the mud.  Humans are not those elements or flowers we exist in our forms as Humans and even if we were those elements and trees and flowers as they’ve claimed we are. We aren’t all Gold,  some of us are diamonds,  some flowers and each requires it method of extraction. We exist in diversity and for those who like proverbs “Put pressure on diamonds, plant lotus in mud”.  I think it funny that diamonds cut diamonds, but we have golds trying to cut diamonds.

I have drifted off the point of conversation,  To those who are graduating today please remember how you felt when your supervisor ripped your paper, how you barely had money to eat but yet you printed pages of paper work, how you were offered grades you deserved for sex and how you felt when that professor spoke to you calmly. Maybe if you remember the pain and the love, when you sit at the top you’ll pass on love.
Those at the top who have forgotten please remember, maybe then you’ll stop causing pain.
I remember getting punished with my brother over playing with friends and when we were asked why we went to play with friends my brother told my mum the same reason you played with friends too.  That got him extra cains but she laughed after and gave a lot more freedom. I  think that was because she remembered.
